On the Schuttevaerstraat in Meppel, someone was seriously injured in an accident with fireworks on Saturday evening. According to bystanders, heavy fireworks exploded in the face of the victim.
A huge bang preceded the accident. The windows vibrated in the frames, says a bystander. Several residents of the street witnessed the explosion.
Blanket to keep victim warm
Immediately afterwards, residents rushed outside to help the injured. An attempt was made to keep the seriously injured victim warm with a blanket.
Police and an ambulance arrived on the scene. A trauma helicopter also flew to Meppel to provide assistance. The victim has been taken to hospital.
