“Serious danger”: mayor closes home after several explosions in Alkmaar street

In the past week there have been three explosions around a house on Olieslagerstraat in Alkmaar. Mayor Anja Schouten has therefore decided to temporarily close the house.

Another loud bang sounded in the Olieslagerstraat in Alkmaar on Saturday night. It is it third incident in less than a week. “Residents and local residents feel very unsafe as a result and I understand that,” Schouten responds in a letter to the municipal council.

After the first explosion last week, the municipality camera surveillance set up. That did not deter the perpetrator(s). That is why the mayor has decided to temporarily close the house. “Keeping the house open poses a serious risk to public order and safety. This way, peace can be restored to the neighborhood.”

The mayor has taken ‘necessary measures’ for the residents of the building. It is not known what that entails.
