Serious accident in Dudzele: fire brigade must free occupants

The car drove in the direction of Knokke-Heist and lost control of the wheel for reasons that are still unclear. The SUV first hit a tree and then ended up on its side in the roadway. The impact threw the engine block out of the car and landed twenty meters further on the verge. Both the driver and passenger had to be pulled from the wreckage by firefighters. They were both seriously injured and taken to hospital. The driver of the car is still in life-threatening condition.

Due to the accident, the Westkapelse Steenweg was closed to all traffic for a while.
