Disney + no longer only offers its own family-friendly content. Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars and Fox are also part of the portfolio. The streaming service also regularly expands its program with additional films, series and seasons. In this article, TECHBOOK lists the current innovations at Disney+ and presents the highlights.
Disney+ makes the full range of the Walt Disney Company available to its users. But not only for children there is a lot of content available, there is also a lot to stream for adults. In addition to the National Geographic innovations, the popular Star Wars universe and the superheroes from Marvel are also represented on Disney+. In addition, since February 2021 there has been an offer more geared towards adults called “Star”. The program of the streaming platform grows every month. As a rule, the new products appear on a weekly basis, usually on Friday, just in time for the weekend. Here is the list of all the new series and films that are new to Disney+ in September and August.

New series on Disney+ in September
A fairly balanced mix awaits Disney+ subscribers in September. With the new series “Die Drei !!!” the detective girl gang, already known from the cinema, goes on a mystery hunt. Also worth seeing are the new seasons of the “9-1-1” offshoot “Lone Star” and the parent series “Notruf LA”, as well as the new mini-series “Justified: City Primeval” with Timothy Olyphant. And fans of the Kardashians will also get their money’s worth with a new season on Disney +.
Rocco Schiavone (Season 5) – Coming September 6th
The series is based on the well-known novel series by Antonio Manzini and revolves around police officer Rocco Schiavone (Marco Giallini). Since he often resorts to unconventional methods in his investigations, he is transferred from Rome to the picturesque Aosta Valley punitive. But even there there are enough crimes to be solved. He is always accompanied by hallucinations of his deceased wife.
Justified: City Primeval – Coming September 6th
The new miniseries is a sequel to the hit series Justified, which aired between 2010 and 2015. Timothy Olyphant returns to his role as US Marshall Raylan Givens. He has built a new life in Miami with his daughter. By chance, however, he ended up in Detroit, where he crossed paths with a dangerous criminal and his unscrupulous lawyer.
9-1-1 911 LA (Season 6) – Coming September 20th
The popular series is entering a new season. It shows the everyday life of emergency first responders in Los Angeles, from the fire department to paramedics and police officers. Enriched with a pinch of personal drama, of course.
Mr. Mercedes (Seasons 1-3) – starting September 20th
The series “Mr. Mercedes” is based on a template by Stephen King. A psychopathic killer steers his eponymous Mercedes into a crowd – again and again. A former investigator then goes on a criminal hunt. A psychological power struggle erupts between the retired detective (Brendan Gleeson) and the killer (Harry Treadaway).

New movies on Disney+ in September
September features both old and new blockbusters on Disney+. Among other things, the group remains true to its strategy of releasing cinema films promptly on the streaming platform. In September, for example, subscribers can look forward to the live-action adaptation of “Arielle, the Mermaid”. On the other hand, titles such as “Man on Fire”, “Negotiation Matter” or “Joyride – Dash Tour” should bring a certain nostalgia factor with them. Disney+ is also releasing other old short films by studio founder Walt Disney.
Ariel the Little Mermaid – from September 6th
The film is a live-action adaptation of the 1989 animated classic of the same name, which in turn is loosely based on HC Andersen’s fairy tale “The Little Mermaid” and incidentally received two Oscars for its world-famous soundtrack. The eponymous Ariel (Halle Bailey) is not only a mermaid, but also the daughter of Triton (Javier Bardem), the king of the seas. However, she dreams of a life on land; they are very interested in people. For this she is even willing to make a pact with the sea witch Ursula (Melissa McCarthy), which gives her legs but also costs her her voice. Of course, that makes it harder to communicate with her crush, Eric (Jonah Hauer-King).
Man on Fire – starting September 15th
One could say that “Man on Fire” founded the sub-genre “Warrior makes friends with child”. Denzel Washington plays an ex-Marine hired as a bodyguard for ten-year-old Lupita (Dakota Fanning) in this 2004 film. A special friendship develops between the two. But then the girl is kidnapped.
No One Will Save You – from September 22nd
Brynn (Kaitlyn Dever) rarely leaves her apartment; the young talented artist has almost completely retired. More and more often she is awakened at night by strange noises that appear to be of supernatural origin.
Sunshine – from September 22nd
Before Oppenheimer, lead actor Cillian Murphy had to deal with an extraordinary bombshell in the film Sunshine. In the year 2057 there will be a new ice age on earth due to the extinction of the sun. To save humanity, a group is dispatched aboard the spaceship Icarus II to reignite the core of the sun.

These were the new series on Disney+ in August
August offers more highlights at Disney+ than it has in a long time! In the series area, the 3rd season of “Only Murders in the Building” and of course the new “Star Wars” series “Ahsoka” are particularly eye-catching. The acclaimed crime series returns with a new case; this time a mysterious actor died. With “Ahsoka” comes another live-action series from the “Star Wars” universe. Lead actress Rosario Dawson had a memorable appearance in the role on The Mandalorian.
Only Murders in the Building (Season 3) – starting August 8th
One of the most entertaining crime series of years returns for a third season on Disney+! In the series, the unlikely trio – consisting of Mabel (Selena Gomez), Charles (Steve Martin) and Oliver (Martin Short) – “investigate” a new case. In addition to the well-known faces, stars such as Paul Rudd and acting icon Meryl Streep are also part of the party.
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series (Season 4) – out August 9
The popular Disney+ series based on the film of the same name is entering its final round. East High students are assigned to study another stage production. A reunion with the stars of the original will also be celebrated at the school and a film will be shot. There are inevitable feelings of farewell.
Breeders (Season 3) – Coming August 16th
Breeders season 3 also premieres on Disney+ in August, starring Martin Freeman and Daisy Haggard. The comedic drama series explores the various challenges and facets of parenting. The new season revolves around topics such as menopause and what it’s like to move back in with your parents.
Ahsoka (Season 1) – starting August 23
“Star Wars” fans should mark August 23 in their calendars – or have already done so – because that’s when the new series “Ahsoka” starts on Disney+. Rosario Dawson plays the titular heroine, who previously appeared in The Mandalorian. The Jedi Master wants to prevent the return of the Empire and settle an old score.

These were the new movies on Disney+ in August
In August, a batch of old Disney short films will be coming to a streaming platform for the first time. Otherwise, Marvel fans can already look forward to “Guardians of the Galaxy 3” just two months after its theatrical release. And there are also some exciting in-house productions on the streaming list this month.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 3 – out August 2nd
Right at the beginning of the month, a real bang comes to the streaming platform: “Guardians of the Galaxy 3”. The Guardians embark on a mission closely tied to Rocket’s past. Also, now that Gamora is an alternate version of herself, Peter and Gamora must come to terms with their new situation.
Natural Born Killers – starting August 4th
Almost a classic with Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis. The two play the killer couple Mickey and Mallory, who deliberately increase their notoriety by always letting a survivor escape who can tell the story of the brutal heists.
Miguel Wants to Fight – starting August 16th
With this Hulu film, the name says it all. Because although Miguel lives in a neighborhood notorious for its crime, the high school student has never gotten into a fight. He would like to change that, but encounters absurd obstacles in the process.
