Series A – turn at Genoa: negotiations with Labbadia probably burst

Genoa (dpa) – According to media reports, the negotiations with coach Bruno Labbadia as the new coach at the Italian first division club CFC Genoa 1893 seem to have burst.

The German former coach of Hertha BSC Berlin has already been traded as the successor to the Ukrainian Andrei Shevchenko and should have come to the northern Italian city on Tuesday. The reason for Labbadia’s withdrawal could have been different views when buying new players, the broadcaster Rai Sport reported.

According to the media, the current penultimate table in Serie A is considering a return from previous coaches. Ex-coach Rolando Maran was up for election, according to broadcaster Sky Sport Italia. The 58-year-old coached the team from August to December 2020. Another option could be Maran’s predecessor at CFC Genoa, Davide Nicola. The club announced the end of its collaboration with Shevchenko last Saturday. Since then, Abdoulay Konko has initially taken over the management of the team.
