Rome (AP) – After the corona-related chaos matchday in the Italian Serie A, possible consequences for the clubs of the failed games are still outstanding.
As the Italian soccer league announced, the sports court is reviewing the four affected games. On January 6, at the start of the second half of the season in Serie A, the matches Atalanta Bergamo against FC Turin, FC Bologna against Inter Milan, AC Florence against Udinese Calcio and US Salernitana 1919 against FC Venice were canceled. The reason for this was numerous corona cases in the teams, which is why the local health authorities had quarantined some of the teams.
The court wanted to give itself time, the sports paper “Gazzetta dello Sport” interpreted the procedure. The possible decision at the green table, i.e. that the team that did not appear, loses 3-0, was initially not made. On January 18, the court wants to decide on the game Udinese Calcio against Salernitana 1919, which was also canceled on December 21, 2021 because of many corona infections at the southern Italian club from Salerno.
