Serie C, Siena confirmed the -2 penalty: how the playoffs change

Rejected the appeal of the Tuscans, who will now have to face Pontedera away. But another referral is also pending on the club, with a verdict expected on 8 May

The Federal Court of Appeal, presided over by Mario Luigi Torsello, rejected Siena’s complaint (Serie C, group B), confirming the 2 penalty points in the standings to be served in the 2022-2023 football season inflicted by the National Federal Court. The 3-month inhibition for the club president, Emiliano Montanari, has also been confirmed.

The motivation

The Juventus club had been referred on a report from Covisoc for the non-payment of the Irpef withholding taxes relating to the period November 2021-August 2022 and the month of October 2021. The current ranking, consequently, changes: Siena, considering the 2 points removed , will have to face Pontedera away in the first round of the play-off phase of the group. However, another referral is pending on the Juventus club, on which the Federal Court will rule on 8 May. Precisely because of this, the start date of the play-offs has been postponed to May 11th.

The play-off table of group b

This is the new schedule for the first round of the playoffs in Group B of Serie C: a single home match for the best placed team in the league. In the event of a tie in the 90th minute, no overtime or penalties, the home team qualifies for the second round.
