The midweek round opens with 13 matches from groups A and B and the evening opposite the two leaders, Mantua and Cesena. Here’s everything that happened.

group A

Nothing but a crisis: after two draws in a row conditioned a bit by bad luck, Mantova returns overwhelming and defeats Virtus Verona with a round 4-0 (goal by Bragantini – the winger owned by Hellas was best on the pitch – , Mensah, Fedel and Burrai). Possanzini’s team, which has served the first of three rounds of disqualification, thus temporarily extends its lead over Padova (tomorrow, Wednesday, the eagerly awaited derby with Vicenza). While waiting for the big match at Euganeo, third place for one night is taken by Atalanta U23: the signature on the Nerazzurri’s deserved success against Lumezzane is once again put by Vanja Vlahovic, with his second goal in two appearances as a starter among the greats ( he is the top scorer in the Primavera championship). Scrolling through the rankings, the surprising Legnago – 11 useful results in a row – is now first behind the big teams: the 2-1 against Pergolettese brings Massimo Donati’s team to sixth place alone (Franzolini and Boci scored, both on assists of an excellent Giani, shortens Mazzarani late from the spot). Seven points in the last three games for Francesco Baldini’s Trento, who move on to the field of increasingly run-down Alessandria (1-0) thanks to a goal from Antonio Satriano, former Primavera Roma, who played at his best in the first part of the season Dutch championship with Heracles. Pro Patria returns to success, overcoming Pro Vercelli (2-1, one point in the last five days for the Piedmontese) thanks to Castelli’s brace which reaches double figures, while Petrella’s header at the end is useless. Few emotions between Pro Sesto and Giana – in Breda the 0-0 was also affected by the pitch being heavy due to the rain – and in Arzignano-AlbinoLeffe.

group B

The record-breaking Cesena unexpectedly falls, led by Mimmo Toscano, who hadn’t lost since the first day of the championship (but still remains solidly first). The league leaders fall (3-2) on the pitch of Carrarese, the third force in the group which has been traveling at a record pace since Antonio Calabro was on the bench: the Bianconeri ahead with Shpendi and joined in the first half by Giuseppe Panico, after the break the game changes due to the naive expulsion of Ogunseye and Carrarese takes advantage of it (Schiavi scores the overtaking directly from the flag, Panico scores a brace, the other encore, that of Shpendi, top scorer with 19 goals, is not enough for the Bianconeri in the final). From third place Perugia loses contact, collapsing badly in Chiavari under the blows of a super Entella: in the 5-0 for Fabio Gallo’s team the hat-trick (as a midfielder) from a wild Corbari shines, Petermann also scores from a penalty and Montevago. The other Umbrian team, Gubbio, is smiling, now one less than Perugia: at the Barbetti the 2-0 over Arezzo comes thanks to Di Massimo and Bernardotto (match suspended for 8 minutes due to a fault in the lighting system). The terrible moment of post-Zeman Pescara continues, on and off the pitch: the biancazzurri, despite Merola’s brace, also give way to Recanatese (3-2, for the Marches the former Melchiorri, Lipari and Ferrante scored with a decisive twist). In the safety zone, Ancona’s success (2-1) over last-place Fermana was invaluable: a brace from Spagnoli (12th in the league) in the second half, Sorrentino’s away goal useless (with Protti’s bench at risk). Pineto and Vis Pesaro move the table (1-1): Chakir responds to Nicastro’s header in the first half with the same weapon.
