– VERONA

An extra-luxury Verona format continues its overwhelming run, which sees it constantly on the left side of the standings. Alexander Blessin’s Genoa pays the price: the German coach collects his first defeat since he was in Italy, after eight useful results. A deserved success for the Gialloblù who managed to capitalize on the goal of the former Giovanni Simeone, who reached 16 goals: the Argentine had also scored in the first leg. Tudor’s team, which will have Inter at San Siro on Saturday, has commanded the game from the start and legitimized the great surprise role of this championship in which it has now reached 45 points, when there are still seven games left: a high level achievement. For Genoa, on the other hand, the cold shower has arrived: with a success they would have reached Cagliari in fourth from last position, while the Grifone is still there, even if there is no shortage of time to remedy.

SIMEONE THINKS

In the first half, Verona started very strong, immediately attacking the ball carriers of Genoa. The goal that unlocked the game arrived after only 5 minutes: Bessa’s brilliant ball for Simeone who in a split arrives on the ball together with Vasquez and mock Sirigu at the exit. Verona, loudly supported by the public despite the Curva Sud being closed for racist choirs in the match against Napoli, is not satisfied and the pressure continues. Caprari on the left is very inspired, Bessa always knows what to do when she has the ball at her feet and Hellas is close to doubling in the 22nd minute: Tameze serves Caprari, a big right in turn and the ball on the post: Sirigu’s deviation is decisive. Shortly after again Caprari, after a good phrasing with Lazovic, tries but Sirigu keeps a good guard. Genoa in the first half is alone – or almost – in a conclusion from Portanova controlled without problems by Montipò.

STERILE GENOA

In the second half Blessin tried to shake up his team with the changes. In fact, the entry of Yeboah at the beginning of the second half gave the team a little more verve than him. Amiri also tried to put the Verona defense in difficulty, as did Piccoli who had the equalizer fifteen minutes from the end, but Lazovic’s intervention was providential. Shortly after, Galdames was also dangerous on the right, but Montipò kept a good watch. Genoa finished the game with great intensity, but they missed the paw in the area: for salvation it is necessary to find the way to the goal.
