At first it’s an allusion, then a voice, an elbow C, a poisonous whisper in its absence; then it becomes a filthy gossip, then a vulgar gossip, an offense, a slander and finally a fault. But there is no fault. Instead, there is a short article in a couple of newspapers where the exemption of Carlo Carcano, the multi-decorated coach, the best Italian coach who won four consecutive championships and – the season is that of 1934/35 – practically mortgaged the fifth.
