The trip to Wimbledon was just the start, now Serena Williams is targeting the US Open.
The 40-year-old continues her comeback at the WTA tournaments in Toronto (from August 8) and Cincinnati (from August 15).
Williams is no longer listed in the world rankings. The 23-time Grand Slam winner was only able to start at the All England Club thanks to a wildcard.
After a one-year break, she lost in the first round to Frenchwoman Harmony Tan in London, but apparently found her liking for touring again. For the US Open (from August 29) there was “a lot of motivation to get better and play at home,” Williams said after leaving Wimbledon. On Tuesday, the tournament in Cincinnati/Ohio confirmed their participation.
