The only real contact seems to be with Ana (Tesa Litvan), a young prostitute who attends regularly, pragmatic and direct, who despite the difficulties of life has retained the desire to dream. The news of a flirtation between her and a boy from the neighborhood, combined with Francesca’s stories, is given to Guglielmo a new point of view on things and they wake him up from his torpor. And, for the first time, he will discover himself alive and able to give another direction to his life.
A touching and well written dramedy
Directed by Giulia Louise Steigerwalt – former actress and screenwriter of films such as Marilyn has black eyes –, September And a good ensemble film that tells the story of six characters, belonging to different generations. The common denominator is the search for love, for normality, for something new that it begins, just as it happens in the autumn month. Written with depth and tact, September it alternates comedy and drama with freshness without ever falling into the pathetic. Telling, even with irony, the little dramas of life and the daily difficulties of communicating with others.
While giving the right attention to each of the stories, without “sacrificing” any character, the director does not have particular formal touches. Too busy building a smooth choral structure, Giulia Steigerwalt sometimes he makes somewhat simplistic choices.
Apart from a few winks at certain TV fiction canons, the film is an encouraging first work whose strong point is its cast. It is no coincidence that one of the female protagonists, Barbara Ronchi won the David di Donatello for Best Leading Actress. But the acting performances of the very young Margherita Rebeggiani and the actress are also excellent always measured and sensitive Fabrizio Bentivoglio.

Winner of the Alida Valli award for best supporting actress at Cannes, Barbara he sees the doors of success opening before him. Toggle important films, Return by Cristina Comencini, and leading fiction as Imma Tataranni – Deputy Prosecutor.
