Sepp Herberger Awards at Gala in Berlin

Berlin (dpa) – The prizes of the Sepp Herberger Foundation were awarded at a celebratory gala on Monday evening.

On the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the birth of the former world champion coach, cash prizes of 125,000 euros were awarded. A total of 14 associations or initiatives received awards for their work over the past few months.

“It shows the integrative power of football,” said the new President of the German Football Association, Bernd Neuendorf. “These are shining examples of voluntary commitment – especially at the grassroots level.” It’s about integration, inclusion and “many other social issues. That’s worthy of praise and appreciation. That’s what we’re here for today.”
