Sentence reduction for Aalsmeer handball players Bottinga and Benghanem

The handball players of Aalsmeer have successfully appealed against the suspension of Tim Bottinga and Samir Benghanem. Bottinga’s penalty has been reduced from twelve to six matches and Benghamen’s from six to four matches.

The handball players were suspended after a heavy brawl in the match against the Belgian Visé in the BeNe-League. Due to the reduced sentence, Benghanem can immediately play during the Final Four on March 26 and 27. Aalsmeer will play against Lions in the semi-finals.

If Aalsmeer makes it to the final, Tom Bottinga could return to action. He now has one more game to watch in the BeNe-League. The final of the Final Four is scheduled for Sunday, March 27.

“A justified sentence reduction. It is a pity that Samir Benghanem was not acquitted. We have appealed for the players and the club, because we thought it was an unjust punishment,” said chairman Mike van der Laarse.
