Senni Salminen has a wild leap coming: “Now let’s tune in”

Saturday’s race in Kuortane was the last of the three jumps before the World Championships.

Senni Salminen described feeling relieved and satisfied on Saturday in Kuortane. The score of 14.32 is the 11th best in the world statistics for this season and the fifth best in the leap career.

– Now I know I know this. There is still a long way to go from there this season, Salminen says.

The woman’s SE result has jumped 14.63 last season. That would be a hard currency at the Eugene World Cup.

A foretaste of the upcoming was already seen on Saturday when the athlete stepped a little over a really long bet.

– Senni is one of the three Finnish medalists in Eugene. The other two are Wilma Murto and Oliver Helander. For Senn, 14.50 is nothing, but he definitely has the potential to go far beyond the current SE readings, says Iltalehti’s athletics expert Arto Bryggare.

The medal, either the World Cup or the European Championship plate, is the athlete’s goal this season.

The pace is accelerating

On Saturday, Senni Salminen made the top result of the three-season domestic season in Kuortane. Jussi Saarinen

– The starting point was good and I was really calm. It was not compelling. A couple of first races were left to fuck. Now just relax. The weather was such when there were no expectations, so it brought relaxation, Salminen bundled his gig in Southern Ostrobothnia on Saturday.

14.32 was an excellent result at thirteen degrees and rain. World Cup medalist Shanieka Ricketts won 20 cents better on Saturday.

– When the run went well, the jumps continued. In all the jumps, the run went well, but not well enough to have gone even further. As soon as the run comes, the jumps will come – they will be so in the back of the head.

Next time, Salminen will compete in the World Cup qualifier in the United States in July.

– Now we’re just training and tuning in when the European Championship limit was set.

Last year, you tuned in too much after your early performances. How do you make sure you don’t overdo it now?

– My coach Matti Mononen knows we don’t tune too much, Salminen replies.

Bryggare believes the second time Monone will not step into mine.

– They have made mistakes when they are in love with training. At some point, for example, last year, Senni has been training too much. The athlete has taken the reasons for himself, but mistakes were made practically and on the competition schedule. Now it looks really good.

Cold shower

After Saturday’s race, Salminen was satisfied and relieved. Jussi Saarinen

Saturday’s competition was also an exotic experience for Finns, although Salminen hardens himself for a cold shower for at least a minute every morning.

– I added a lot of hot gel during the race. I had to move and water, so I stayed really warm.

A cold shower is a coach’s idea.

– Just the same when it comes. Every morning when you take a cold shower, it brings hardness. When you wake up to an area of discomfort as soon as you wake up, you can’t ruin the day.
