The meeting of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in Kiev did not strengthen, but aggravated the security situation in Europe, Sergei Tsekov, a member of the Federation Council committee on international affairs, told RBC.

“Maybe they [Джонсон и Зеленский] and believe that the negotiations are successful for them, but whether they are successful for the UK and Ukraine, I would say that they are unsuccessful. They tried more to brandish weapons there, threatened Russia with sanctions. At the same time, I believe that this meeting did not strengthen European security in any way, it only aggravated it, ”the senator noted.

According to Vladimir Dzhabarov, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, the question is how much the Americans and the British will be able to “push through” Zelensky regarding provocations against Russia. “What is officially announced, everything seems to be successful [для Украины], the British support Ukraine and send weapons. But the British are well-known provocateurs, most likely, together with the United States, are pushing Ukraine into an armed conflict with Russia. And then they will show Russia as an aggressor country,” Dzhabarov told RBC.

Tsekov, in turn, noted that the talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, which also took place the day before, had a different atmosphere and tone. “It was a conversation between two people who feel confident at the head of state, who really do a lot to strengthen security not only in their own states. Completely different negotiations: in the negotiations between Putin and Orban, one felt confidence, strength, there was some kind of quarrelsomeness, nothing more, ”Tsekov said.
