At the Bredeney tennis club, the members are rooting for their Bundesliga player Tatjana Maria.
“We in the club are incredibly proud of them and their performance,” said Esther Rekasch in the WDR broadcast Ruhrwho looks after Maria and her quarter-final opponent from Wimbledon Jule Niemeier in the tennis Bundesliga at the Essen club.
It was surprising that two of the club’s players made it into the round of the last eight players at a Grand Slam tournament, but everyone was all the more “very happy for the two and excited”.
After Maria’s entry into the semi-finals, many congratulatory messages were sent in the Bundesliga leader’s WhatsApp group, Rekasch confirmed. “Tatjana answered them too and I think she sent 25 hearts back.”
Niemeier right at the start in the Bundesliga
Despite the defeat, there was also quick contact with Niemeier. “Jule will play for the club in the Bundesliga on Saturday. It’s amazing. She immediately said she wanted to be there and fight for the German championship.”
TC Bredeney is two points ahead of their next opponent, TK BW Aachen, before the last matchday.
