Seitz was already thinking about quitting in 2014

Eight years ago, the German record champion Elisabeth Seitz was close to the end of her career as a gymnast. “I didn’t know what to do anymore and was desperate,” writes the 23-time national title holder in her recently published book “Character Strong – You Have the Choice!”

Her trainer at the time, Claudia Schunk, told her after the 2012 Olympic Games in London that her career was over and that it was now the turn of younger gymnasts. Seitz: “Your attitude pulled the rug out from under my feet.”

In 2015, the now 28-year-old moved from TG Mannheim to MTV Stuttgart, and Robert Mai has been her home coach ever since. In 2018, Seitz won the bronze medal on the uneven bars at the World Championships in Doha/Qatar.
