See all the work of Cees Drubbel one more time in Annen: ‘Grateful that this is possible’

It was the last wish of artist Cees Drubbel. A posthumous exhibition of all his work in his beloved studio in Annen. Hundreds of his works can be admired next weekend in studio De Strubbel on Schipborgerweg.

Cees Drubbel gave painting lessons to adults for almost 40 years. “He was originally a teacher, so it was natural for him to teach others,” says wife Milly Drubbel. “He thought it was wonderful. Especially because his students were always motivated. That motivated him too.”

Drubbel was a satisfied person in his studio. “Painting was his passion. He could be found in his studio every day from 2 to 6. In the morning he was busy in the garden or he went for sports, but in the afternoon he was always busy with art. “

In February of this year, Cees was struck by a brain haemorrhage. He died fourteen days later, on March 6. “The day he had that brain haemorrhage, we were dealing with a hefty storm,” Milly recalls. “A large tree in the garden broke down that same day. I think that is very symbolic. Because with Cees, a tree also fell for me.”
