Long ago, Todd Haynes It was revulsive. Then she won his love for melodrama and achieved a brilliant one (Far from paradise). Here it tells the story of an actress who is going to interpret the story of a woman who had an affair with a 13-year-old boy, to whom she is married 20 years later.
The topics of Douglas Sirk plus a satirical (not comic) idea about the acting profession are diluted in a) the acting contest; b) the need for stylization without emotion to which the director tends. Despite the theme, very little edge.
