Second ticket sales phase for the soccer World Cup started

Berlin (dpa) – A good seven months before the opening game, the second phase of ticket sales for the World Cup in Qatar has begun.

As the world association FIFA announced, fans can order tickets online until April 28th. For the first time, tickets for up to two games per day can also be requested for the start of the group phase. “This possibility, which is made possible thanks to the extremely compact World Cup with short distances between the eight state-of-the-art stadiums, has never existed before,” said the world association.

According to the information, another premiere is that so-called fan tickets and conditional fan tickets are being offered. This is aimed at those who identify themselves as a fan of a specific participating nation and want to sit with other fans of the team. Both individual tickets for the games and four-stadium series tickets can be ordered. Within the deadline, it is irrelevant when the tickets are ordered, “because all tickets are only allocated after the application deadline.” Applicants would be notified of the ticket allocation on May 31st at the earliest.

According to FIFA, it expects high demand. In the first sales phase, 800,000 tickets have already been sold. The World Cup takes place from November 21st to December 18th.
