Second suspected attempted rape in Schagen arrested: man posed as victim

The incident happened on Thursday morning, February 15, at a house on Karper in Schagen. A man rang the doorbell of the unsuspecting victim at the home. He allegedly threw her into the house and shouted that he was going to rape her. After this there was a struggle between the two, but the woman managed to escape.

The police then launched an investigation into the man, during which images of the suspected perpetrator were also shared via Opsporing Verzocht and Bureau NH. After a number of tips, a 45-year-old man from Julianadorp was arrested on February 27.

The man told the police that he had indeed been to Schagen, but that the incident allegedly happened at the invitation of the victim. This is said to be the result of agreements on an erotic chat site on which the man was active.

First suspect released

After an investigation by the digital criminal investigation department, a second suspect was arrested last Friday. It concerns a 57-year-old man from Schagen, who is suspected of posing as the woman online. The 45-year-old man from Julianadorp has now been released, but remains a suspect in the case. The second suspect has confessed and is still in custody.
