A second suspect has been arrested in the investigation into the explosion at a house on the Roef in Huizen. It concerns a 50-year-old man from Utrecht, the police reported RTV Utrecht.
The man was arrested earlier this week, but has since been released. He remains a suspect in the case.
Earlier in the case, a 42 year old man arrested from The Hague. Police tracked down the man while investigating other explosions.
The unrest in Huizen started on Sunday 3 July. Then mayor Niek Meijer decided to close two houses closed until 13 July because, according to police and justice, there was a threat to the two homes.
Armored vehicles and special police units were present on the day. But scaled down during the week after new police safety advice. In the night of 9 to 10 July, an explosive went off at the house on the Roef.
Clarity and tranquility
Last Friday it was announced that the homes locked for at least 28 days stay. “Because of my concern for the residents of the homes and for local residents, I feel compelled to extend the decision to close both homes again. And I will even take that decision for a longer period, namely a closure of 28 days. That provides clarity. to the residents and contributes to peace in the neighborhood,” Mayor Niek Meijer said at the time.
In addition, there is still an area ban for the resident of the house where the explosion took place, for safety reasons.
