A band of clouds is likely to cover the so-called super moon in parts of Germany on Wednesday evening. The celestial event takes place for the second time within a few weeks, and the satellite then appears a little larger than usual.
The moon looks particularly impressive directly after rising and just before setting.
Clouds in parts of Germany in the way
Clouds are likely to make clear visibility difficult, especially in central Germany, according to a spokesman for the German Weather Service (DWD) on Wednesday morning. The chances are better in the north, for example on a line north of Hanover and Berlin. Only a few veil clouds are to be expected there and the supermoon view is significantly better.
The zone of good moon observation should also be in southern Rhineland-Palatinate and the north of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria.
The so-called super moon occurs when the earth companion comes particularly close to our planet in its elliptical orbit and the moon is full at the same time. The spectacle can be admired when there are no clouds obscuring the view, with a view to the south.
According to the Association of Star Friends in Germany, the moon rises above the horizon at 9:36 p.m. in Munich, at 10:17 p.m. in Hamburg, at 9:56 p.m. in Berlin and at 10:12 p.m. in Cologne.
