Second stage win for Kooij in ZLM Tour | 1Limburg

Olav Kooij also won the second stage in the ZLm Tour. Jakub Mareczko crossed the line first but was disqualified by the jury.

Italian rider Mareczko makes a maneuver in the sprint that hindered Mick van Dijke.

Mareczko makes a whip
The Team Jumbo-Visma rider started the sprint for his leader Olav Kooij. After studying the images, the jury decided to downgrade Mareczko for this reason. He made a dangerous swing to the left forcing Van Dijk to swerve. Mareczko was pushed back to last place. Olav Kooij therefore wins the stage between Veere and Goes.

Closed level crossing
Earlier in the day, the jury did not intervene when the leading group came to a closed railway crossing. As a result, the lead of more than a minute was reduced to twenty seconds. The team management of Team Jumbo-Visma did not get a response to have the peloton also stop to restore the margin between the two groups.

Jumbo Visma accelerates in the leading group
In the end, the leading group arrived, partly due to the hard work of the five riders of Team Jumbo-Visma and the three men of Team Ineos, with a lead at Goes.

Kooij also remains leader
With the second victory, Kooij strengthens his leading position in the general classification. The rider of Team Jumbo-Visma will start the queen stage in Limburg on Friday with a nine-second lead over Elia Viviania. The riders start in Heythuysen and arrive in Buchten after 192 kilometers.

The third stage of the ZLM Tour through Limburg can be seen on L1 television tomorrow from a quarter to four.
