Second reinforcement in for AZ with young Swedish attacker

Mayckel Lahdo is the new winger of AZ. The Swede signs a contract for five seasons in Alkmaar. The 19-year-old attacker is taken over from the Swedish Hammarby IF.

“I’m looking forward to starting and meeting all the players,” said Lahdo via the official channels† “AZ is a beautiful club. I love the Netherlands and the football that is played here. I want to play as many matches as possible this season and learn a lot.”

Lahdo went through the youth academy at Hammarby IF and made his debut in the former last year. In between, he was rented out to IK Frej Täby and Hammarby TFF. “Mayckel is primarily a right striker,” says football affairs director Max Huiberts. “He has also played on the left, but mainly plays on the right.

“He has a lot of speed, a good dribble and a good individual action. We think he will develop so quickly that he can quickly start playing his matches at AZ. He has to step up the competition in that position and he is not running for that gone,” said Huiberts.

AZ is working on more players

Lahdo, who is immediately involved in the first training on Monday, is the second acquisition of AZ after Mees de Wit. Huiberts: “We are certainly not finished yet. We are going to strengthen ourselves in a targeted manner and we are still working on that.”
