Second premier class bankruptcy for FC Bayern

The basketball players of FC Bayern Munich also lost the second game in the Euroleague.

The Bundesliga team lost to the Italian club Virtus Bologna on Thursday 63:66 (32:34) and is waiting for success in the new season of the premier class. Coach Andrea Trinchieri’s team have their next chance of winning their first game on Tuesday against FC Barcelona.

For a long time, the Munich team was lagging behind with the team from northern Italy. After ten minutes Bologna led 24:16. Up until the break, the improved FC Bayern were able to reduce their deficit to two points, thanks at least to ten points from international Nick Weiler-Babb.

While the hosts led throughout the first two rounds, Bayern were ahead shortly after the break after a successful long-range shot by Vladimir Lucic (35:34). With a 9-0 run, Bologna managed to react quickly (41:46/26th minute). The Munich team responded within two minutes with a 10:2 series (51:48). After eight points in a row, the opponent turned the match around again and went into the final quarter with a five-point lead.

Bologna did not gamble away this lead in the final round, even if Weiler-Babb was able to shorten the lead to 63:66 with just under 80 seconds to go. Lucic missed the possible compensation.

The best shooters were Weiler-Babb (16 points) and Lucic (15).
