Second division: Royal HFC beats direct competitor AFC

Royal HFC has been doing excellently since the resumption of the competition after the corona stop. Gertjan Tamerus’ team had already defeated leader Katwijk last week and today won against fellow provincial AFC: 1-0. Since the resumption, the Haarlem-squad has won three times.

The first big chance was for AFC player Kenny Teijsse. He tried to outwit Mitchel Michaelis with a header, but the goalkeeper was alert. The game went up and down and HFC”er Sietse Brandsma headed over the visitors’ goal in the counter punch. In the end, Wessel Boer gave the hosts the lead: 1-0. Before half time, HFC became dangerous due to a long shot by Gerry Vlak.

Vincent Volkert encountered Jordi van Stappershoef very close after the break. That was the best chance for HFC in the second half. AFC hardly became dangerous, after which HFC’s lead was maintained.

Due to the victory, HFC climbs to third place in the second division above AFC, but the team from Amsterdam has played one game less. AFC will play that make-up match against ASWH next Wednesday.
