There has been a desperate search for him since Friday evening. Now it is sad certainty: The swimmer (26) who was missing in the Weißen See is dead! Police divers found his body at the bottom of the lake on Saturday. It is the second fatal swimming accident in the Weißen See within a week!

The search for the missing person continued until after midnight. A helicopter with a thermal imaging camera circled over the lake. The helpers from Bernau in Brandenburg had brought a boat with sonar and systematically searched the water with it. Divers felt their way over the bottom bit by bit. At around 12:30 a.m. the call was aborted.

On Saturday, the helpers continued to search. Around 12:50 p.m., police divers found the 26-year-old dead on the bottom. Relatives of the missing person, including the brother, had followed the search from the shore. When the body was taken to the coroner’s car, the brother collapsed. The young man had to be cared for by rescue workers.

The drowned man is the second person to have died swimming in the Weißen See within seven days. A 17-year-old died in the water last Saturday.
