The gardens of the Palau de Pedralbes are no longer the ‘jardins’. Something has changed, now -since the end of June- the music in this venue is sheltered under the name of Les Nits de Barcelona. This is the name of the ‘new’ festival in the upper part of the Catalan capital after that controversial public contest that granted the promoter Clipper’s Live (it presented the best financial offer but not the best artistic proposal) the license to hold a series of concerts in the summer months. ‘Boutique’ festival, its presentation has changed little: the distribution of the spaces is almost identical and the white shirts continue (the linen is worked a lot) and the colorful dresses. Some hide the sweat of a hot night, others don’t.
Until now this territory was ‘owned’ by Concert Studio, creators of the exhibition in that space of the nobility that bore the name Festival Jardins de Pedralbes. Now, as in a convoluted space-time journey, that event is under the same title at Poble Espanyol (with the prefix ALMA). On their first day of cohabitation, at first glance no one was mistaken for direction.
On the night of this Tuesday, Sebastián Yatra, a 28-year-old Colombian, brought the sweetest Latin pop to Les Nits in Barcelona, that in recent days has received the visit of David Bisbal or Antonio Orozco, among others. A musical and television idol (the jury of ‘La Voz Kids’ on Antena 3) and also the protagonist of ‘salseo’ (he is the partner of the Catalan singer Aitana) he presented himself as a soap opera heartthrob, a romantic guy who sometimes dare with some mischief. “Aitana will not come out but she will be behind the stage,” a spectator predicted before the concert. With a proven pull between the girls and the female audience, this Tuesday it brought together 2,267 people, thus hanging the ‘sold out’ sign.
He started with one of his hits, ‘Couple of the Year’ (a song he has with Myke Towers), appearing on stage like one of those leading idols in folders. “‘Bona nit, Barcelona'”, he said with a trained accent that he taught in other dialogues with the public. She even sang part of ‘Un año’, in a concert sequence for the ballads, in Catalan in a version she did for La Marató de TV3.

But the romantic Yatra got naughty to continue with ‘Sutra’, in which he and his dancers put an already hot night on fire. And the public endured up to here, said enough, and got up to dance the catchy ‘Treacherous’. As seen last night, the passion for the one from Medellín is something that mothers and daughters share.
The Colombian also became a tormented lover, as in ‘Por perro’, and a smart opportunist in ‘Ya no tiene novio’ (with leading impromptu front-row singers), thus playing with the fan of a mischievous gallant which he continued to deploy with leading hits on the radio formula such as ‘As of today’, ‘Robarte un beso’, ‘Ideal Girl’ or the one that served as the final point, ‘Tacones rojos’, all sung at the top of their lungs by some dedicated stands to the idol
