Sebastian Vettel is clear: ‘I don’t want to race in Russia anymore’ | Motorsport

“I think it would be wrong to race there. I was shocked when I saw the news this morning. Right now, innocent people are losing their lives. It’s a bizarre policy. I don’t think we should go there and I’ve already made my decision.”

Vettel is a member of the ‘union’, the GPDA, on behalf of the Formula 1 drivers. He says that there will certainly still be talk about a Grand Prix in Russia. The Formula 1 leadership stated earlier on Thursday that it is not yet anticipating whether or not the Russian race will continue at the end of September, but is closely monitoring the situation.

When asked, Max Verstappen added: “If a country is at war, it is not correct to go there. That is obvious. It’s up to Formula 1 to make the decision.”
