Sebastian Schenk joins the clothes hanger manufacturer MAWA as managing director

The Pfaffenhofen-based clothes hanger manufacturer MAWA GmbH is strengthening its team: Sebastian Schenk has been responsible for production as well as the finance and accounting department in the role of managing director since October 2023. He is no stranger to the company: the son of owner Michaela Schenk was already supporting projects for MAWA during his studies. “My degree in business administration and my focus on production management are ideal prerequisites for MAWA. After completing my master’s degree, I entered management consulting with a specialization in restructuring in order to build up as broad a wealth of experience as possible. “I am now very pleased to be able to push projects forward at MAWA and further improve the quality and processes in production,” reports Sebastian Schenk.

See opportunities and implement them

As a management consultant, Schenk accompanied production companies in various industries from the crisis into a strategic transformation. So he learned to see opportunities even in difficult times and to consistently realize them, to make decisions based on facts and to concentrate on the essential adjustment screws. “Although MAWA is not in a crisis situation, I would like to use my experience profitably. For me, the key to this is always having a clear view of the market and your own performance as well as open communication internally and externally,” says Schenk and adds: “I see MAWA as a sustainable company – the team and the products are first-class .”

Next generation in the company

For many small and medium-sized companies – which represent around 99 percent of all companies in Germany – company succession is increasingly becoming a challenge. Often takeovers no longer take place within the family, so old owners look for a business successor elsewhere. “It was the same when I took over the company in 2007. Now MAWA will be continued within the family again. I am very happy that I can now share my passion for MAWA with my son. In a joint management we are a strong team, and that is the best prerequisite for further developing the traditional company with our innovative team,” says Michaela Schenk, owner and managing director, in conclusion.
