Eintracht Braunschweig celebrates the second win in the second game. After early behind, the Lower Saxony turn the game against Fürth. A penalty at the last minute brings the decision.

Eintracht Braunschweig made an optimal start to the season in the 2nd Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon. The Lower Saxony defeated the SpVgg Greuther Fürth 3: 2 (2: 1) and celebrated two victories on the first two match days for the first time since 2016.

In the intensive game, Felix Klaus put the guests in the lead in the 16th minute. Braunschweig turned the game before the break by hits from Lukas Frenkert (32nd) and Erencan Yardimci (35th). Felix Higl equalized for Fürth in the 88th minute before Sebastian Polter secured victory for Eintracht in added time (90.+6).

In front of more than 20,000 spectators, the Fürther initially developed slight advantages. The Braunschweigers rely on early pressing and high commitment.

Klaus used the first noteworthy chance in his 200th second division game. The hit also lasted after a three-minute VAR check.

After the deficit, Braunschweig increased the pressure and turned the game through a double strike within three minutes. In the second half, the hosts concentrated on the defensive, while Fürth increased pressure. After Higl’s late equalization, a foul on a polter ensured the decisive penalty that the fouled himself converted.
