Sebastian Hoeneß “pissed off” after cup exit

It was probably the most contentious scene of the cup clash between Bayer Leverkusen and VfB Stuttgart. In the 36th minute, Robert Andrich was late against Enzo Millot; the Bayer professional was already booked at this point.

“I’m not only disappointed, but also pissed off,” said VfB coach Sebastian Hoeneß after the dramatic 3-2 defeat in the cup quarter-finals on “Sky” about the yellow-red card that was not given.

“The first yellow: Sure, I’m late. I didn’t notice the second scene that way, and no one complained,” said Andrich. “You can let it continue at the “normal pace”. The referee didn’t come to me either, so after the final whistle I was surprised that so many people came to me.”

Despite the anger, Hoeneß “saw a great football game.”

Bayer and VfB are “definitely two teams that are fun because they play courageous, cheeky, offensive football.” Bayer had the better end this time.
