Sebastian Hoeneß is no longer the coach of TSG Hoffenheim. In a press statement on Tuesday afternoon, the club’s management thanked him for his work: “We have always clearly expressed our appreciation for the coach and person Sebastian Hoeneß over the past few months. That’s another reason why the decision was not easy for us,” said the TSG director Professional football, Alexander Rosen.
“After an analysis that began before the last matchday, however, we have to admit that the results and events of the past two months have overshadowed many of the many positive aspects that this season had in store and that meanwhile brought us fourth place,” explains to Rosen the reason for the breakup.
Missed entry into the European Cup
Hoeneß took over as head coach ahead of the 2020/21 season, succeeding Alfred Schreuder. However, the Kraichgauer did not reach their goal of the European Cup in the past season.
