Aston Martin’s F1 team star driver Sebastian Vettel ride in Canada with a specially colored helmet. With the main shelter, the four-time world champion wants to draw attention to the Canadian oil industry.

The German in the helmet says, “Stop drilling in the oil sands. The climate crisis in Canada. ” The helmet has a pair of pictures of a clean forest and terrain used by the oil industry.

Vettel described to F1 media that oil drilling in Alberta, Canada, was a crime.

– It’s a horrible thing for nature. Canada’s greenhouse emissions have also gotten out of hand since drilling began. I understand the reasons why policy makers have blessed the action, but I have a right to disagree. Fossil fuels are not the future and new excavations should no longer be allowed, Vettel said in Montreal.

Good deeds, but do they help?

Although Vettel, 34, is an F1 driver, he is prominently fighting for the climate. He has taken part in the climate change debate numerous times, urging policymakers to take various ecological steps to prevent a climate catastrophe.

Vettel is active in various environmental organizations, in addition to which he has also done various concrete things for the climate. In addition to monetary donations, he has, among other things, built “bee hotels” and helped clean up the F1 race stands from the trash.

He arrives at the depot by bike, with many others curving up in great sponsor cars.

Still, these acts do not eliminate the great contradiction. To finish, Vettel drives an F1 car around the world. The main sponsor of his employer is the Saudi oil company Aramco, which also drills in oil sands.

From this, opponents found a way to beat Vettel. The cane was provided by a Canadian MP Pat Kelly. He shared a thread on Twitter accusing Vettel of being a hypocrite.

– A new band for a celebrity who isn’t aware of himself, Kelly squeaked.
