Search in forest Ulestraten for missing Marjo Winkens | 1Limburg

In Ulestraten, a search was made this weekend for the missing Marjo Winkens, who has been missing since 1975. The bottom has been examined in various places with an excavator, but nothing has been found so far.

The Signi Foundation confirms this after reporting from ZO-NWS.

Tip
The reason for the new search is a tip that the Limburg private detective Ben Zuidema received. The tip came from a man from Heerlen who has been convicted several times and was in prison. He claims that he killed Winkens and buried her body in a forest in Ulestraten. The man is now deceased.

Search dogs
In recent months, dogs and ground radars have already been searched in the forest area in Ulestraten. The spot where one of the dogs smelled something was dug on Saturday. “We try to get a picture with various means,” says Cor Aalbregt of the foundation. No remains were found this weekend, but Aalbregt expects that another search will take place in the area soon. It is not yet known when that will be.

Marjo Winkens has been missing since 1 September 1975 after a visit to the Sint Rosa fair in Sittard. The moped with which Winkens was on his way home was found at the time between Spaubeek and Schimmert. There have been several searches in recent years. In 2019, a search was made in a forest in Beesel, but nothing was found even then.
