A house on Dambeern in Gieten was damaged by fire last night. The fire was discovered just before three on the outside of the house.
The flames partly penetrated the interior and caused considerable damage. The residents were able to get out of the house themselves and were not injured. Several fire brigades arrived on site to extinguish the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the police say that there is a strong suspicion that this is a case of arson. “The colleagues looked for a possible suspect last night, but found no one. The investigation will be continued today,” police spokesperson Sascha Suselbeek said.
Today the police are conducting neighborhood investigations and are looking for camera images from the area. Witnesses are asked to report to the police.
