Search at a Berlin police officer for drugs

A Berlin police officer himself has been targeted by investigators for illegal drug possession.

On March 1, officers from the State Criminal Police Office searched the man’s apartment and office, the police and public prosecutor’s office announced on Thursday.

Various pieces of evidence, including mobile phones and data carriers, a steel rod and forbidden knives were found.

The officer is being investigated on suspicion of violating the Narcotics Act. The authorities did not provide any further information about the accused or the allegations.

The evaluation of the confiscated items and the investigations are ongoing. Disciplinary steps have been taken against the accused, said a police spokesman. The outcome depends on how the criminal proceedings end.
