Actor Sean Penn is 61 years old. No reason for him to worry – on the contrary. in one Interview with the Toronto Sun he admits to being glad he no longer has to deal with our world’s increasing “apocalyptic future”.
“I’m a little frustrated with our world,” he says – and is therefore glad to be old. He therefore does not have to deal too much with the direction in which things are going. Apparently he doesn’t just mean issues such as climate change and corona denial, but also the so-called cancel culture. In the interview, Penn states, among other things: “We worry too much about what or who we can or should be because we don’t want to be blamed by people who are self-righteous and quick to judge.” These people Penn calls hypocrites: “They but don’t worry about, for example, why bombs are hitting children in Yemen – because such issues don’t immediately bring them to a certain club.”
Sean Penn last made headlines around July 2021 when he refused to continue filming Gaslit until every cast and crew member was vaccinated against Covid-19. In 2018, he called the #MeToo movement lewd for separating men and women.
Most recently, Sean Penn directed and starred alongside his daughter Dylan in the film Flag Day. Its soundtrack features Eddie Vedder with his daughter Olivia, Cat Power and Glen Hansard, among others. Penn previously worked with Vedder on his book adaptation, Into The Wild, to which the Pearl Jam singer also contributed music.
