Sea King and F16 eye-catcher at Expo about air force in Koksijde
The NH90 has performed 24 life-saving operations at sea in the past six months. The NH90 is the successor to the well-known SeaKing. And in Koksijde they are ready for a new season. The Air Force is also looking for personnel. It now employs 5,000 people, but there are 600 vacancies. For pilots, among other things, a job that continues to appeal to the imagination, says the chief of the Belgian Air Force, Thierry Dupont: “We have a lot of candidates for that. Especially because Topgun 2 is just now playing in the halls, Maverick. That’s good commercial break.” (read more below the photo)
There is also an exhibition that outlines how the Air Force works and evolves. Because many old devices are replaced by new ones. There is an F16, and the SeaKing is also back for a while. “The SeaKing is an old workhorse that we are still very proud of, although it no longer flies,” says Kurt Verwilligen. “It is a unique opportunity for the visitor to come and look at that device.”
The expo will run all summer.
