Roger Daltrey has completed the script for a proposed biopic about Keith Moon. The biopic has been in planning since 2005, and Daltrey now wants to realize it in the “next few years”.
“I am very happy with the script. I want people to understand him and his life and the complete genius that he was,” he told Vulture. Moon had a lot of talent, but got out of control for “many reasons”. “Mostly because of a lack of discipline. But once the drugs work, that usually goes away, doesn’t it?” said the 78-year-old.
The singer already has a person in mind to play Moon – but didn’t name a name. All he said about the actor was that he might be too old. However, when Moon died at the age of 32, he looked much older. “He was 32 but he looked 54. I think the actor is around 40 now. I don’t want to jinx it and say his name. But when I look at him I’m like, ‘God, this is Moon,'” he explained.
Daltrey originally wanted Mike Myers to play the role. It was reported a year ago that filming would begin in the summer of 2022, but that didn’t happen. The singer now really wants to implement the project. “I am driven by this project. It appeared to me in a dream 30 years ago,” he explained.
