The emergency was rehearsed in Königs Wusterhausen on Saturday. The scenario: A fire broke out on a train and several people were seriously injured. 84 emergency services from the fire brigade and THW were deployed.
At around 11 a.m. in the morning, the train driver made an emergency call at the train station in Königs Wusterhausen in the Brandenburg district of Dahme Spreewald. A fire has broken out in the front of the train!
The Deutsche Bahn control center responsible immediately sets in motion an extensive rescue chain. Local residents heard the sirens of nearby fire stations blaring just after 11 a.m.
There are 54 passengers on the train, some of whom were seriously injured by the thick smoke or the fire. Screams for help can be heard. The rescuers first get passengers out of the wagons that are still intact, while firefighters build up a water supply and target the burning locomotive.
Meanwhile, the fire brigade and THW are setting up a collection point for the injured so that a first medical screening can take place. And the Federal Police and the State Police suddenly have to deal with confused, sometimes drunk and recalcitrant passengers who they have to take care of.
The volunteer fire brigade comrades are now taking the injured off the train to the collection point. There are numerous injuries. Many passengers have severe burn injuries. In the tent, a first supply is now taking place.
In the meantime, the emergency manager from Deutsche Bahn and the emergency service from the railway company have also arrived. A police helicopter is now in the air, observing the scenario from above.
After an hour, the rescue is over and the fire is out. Luckily, the scenes that took place at the train station are just a realistic exercise. It serves as training and a simulated run-through of a real danger situation for all those involved and rescuers.
