Scottish FA Cup: Glasgow Rangers advance to Cup final at Celtic

Leipzig’s Europa League opponents

Glasgow Rangers are in the Scottish Cup final. In the city derby at record winners Celtic on Sunday, coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s team won 2-1 after extra time and has the chance to win the FA Cup for the first time since 2009. After a 1:1 lead after 90 minutes, Carl Starfelt decided the game with an own goal in the 114th minute.

In regulation time, Greg Taylor put the home side ahead in the 64th minute before Scott Arfield (78′) equalized. The game went into overtime, in which Starfelt made a serious mistake. So the “Gers” are back in the final after 2016. At that time the club lost 2:3 to Hibernian FC.

The final is now home to Heart of Midlothian, who defeated Hibernian FC 2-1 in Saturday’s city derby in the first semi-final. Before the Rangers go to the final in Glasgow, the Europa League semifinals against RB Leipzig are pending. The Scots already ensured the elimination of Borussia Dortmund in the competition.
