Scottish football record champions Glasgow Rangers and Heart of Midlothian will contest the FA Cup final on May 21. Rangers beat arch-rivals Celtic Glasgow 2-1 (1-1, 0-0) after extra time in the semifinals. The Hearts had already entered the final at Glasgow’s Hampden Park on Saturday with a 2-1 (2-1) win over Hibernian Edinburgh.
Scott Arfield scored for Rangers to equalize in regular time (79′). In extra time, an own goal by Carl Starfelt (115th) gave the Europa League opponents of Bundesliga club RB Leipzig a place in the final. Celtic had taken the lead through Greg Taylor in the 64th minute.
For the Rangers it is the 52nd participation in the final, 33 times winning the title. The Hearts have made 16 finals and won the FA Cup eight times.
