Augusta National, which organizes golf’s major tournament, the Masters, sends its annual invitations to players in the traditional way by mail.

This year, one of the letters hit someone who works as a Realtor living in the state of Georgia to Scott Stallings.

The man, who only plays at the hobby level, thought the mail he received was a joke, because there was no way he could get a genuine one.

After being convinced of the authenticity of the letter, Stallings, on the advice of his wife, suddenly searched social media to get hold of his namesake, who had been feverishly waiting for the invitation.

– I was literally checking my inbox five times a day, and then I got this random private message yesterday, Stallings rejoiced.

The mistake made by the Augusta Golf Club is embarrassing, but many others could have gone wrong when hunting for the three-time PGA winner’s address information. In addition to their own names, Scott Stallings has wives with the same names and lives in the state of Georgia.

The Augustan Masters is played in April.
