Scoring Glynor Plet quickly provides clarity about the future at Telstar

Glynor Plet was back on the scoreboard with his goal against Jong AZ. It was his eighth goal of the season. The Telstar captain tapped in a cross, but the Jong AZ goalie got his hand behind it and tapped the ball out of the goal again. Nevertheless, the referee approved Plet’s effort.

Telstar took the lead twice at the AZ training complex, unfortunately this was not enough for the Velsenaren. Young AZ eventually won the game 3-2. Due to the loss, Telstar is still in thirteenth place in the first division.

Despite the defeat, Andries Jonker did not blame his team. His selection has been ravaged by a flu wave in recent days. As a result, the White Lions’ coach had to draft a number of players who were not fit. And that’s not the first time this season. Every week it is a puzzle for the Telstar trainer to come up with a line-up, while the matches follow at a rapid pace.

Glynor Plet played the full ninety minutes against Jong AZ, but that is not the case every week. For example, the tall striker started on the bench against TOP Oss last Friday. That has to do with his age. Plet is now 35 years old and can therefore no longer participate in everything. Whether he will tie it up for another year next season is therefore open to question.
