Hikers found the lost animal on the beach in Bredene on Saturday afternoon. The fire brigade then removed it from the beach, after which experts from the Institute of Natural Sciences identified the foreign visitor as a fat-headed turtle. The institute then transferred the sea animal to Sea Life in Blankenberge. There it stays in a tank that systematically becomes warmer, because the turtle is not used to the water of the North Sea.
