Rrestored in 4k by the Cineteca di Bolognain collaboration with Martin Scorsese’s The Film Foundation, after the move to Cannes Classics in the last edition, Sciusciathe masterpiece of neorealism directed in 1946 by Vittorio De Sica, e first in Academy history to win the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film (at the time “Honorary Award”), comes out at the cinema.
Written by Sergio Amidei and Cesare Zavattini, the film tells the story of street life, the reformatory and the escape of two small Roman shoe shiners after the war. De Sica: «They were the days you know. And I thought: now the children are watching us!».
