Scientists predict further decline in European bumblebee population: “In the most pessimistic scenario, the Benelux will become a killing field”

Scientists from various Belgian universities predict the further decline of the European bumblebee population. According to a study published in the science journal Nature, a large proportion of non-threatened European bumblebee species would lose 30 percent of their suitable habitats by 2061-2080. The study was conducted by scientists from VUB, ULB, UMons, UCL and KU Leuven.
